What is Automata Network (ATA)?

The middleware layer for privacy for a fair Web3 is being built by Automata Network. Its goal is to offer the infrastructure and functionality required to make the dream of a seamless Web 3.0 experience a reality. It addresses censorship, invasions of privacy, and lack of data ownership transparency.

By offering privacy-focused solutions that seamlessly and logically integrate with the current blockchain infrastructure, it seeks to close a market gap. Its Web3-compatible applications include do-not-track indexing, miner extractable value (MEV) minimization, and anonymous voting. With open-source code and APIs, these enable users to conduct transactions safely, reclaim their identity, and provide developers with better building blocks.

Ledger plane - Automata offers interfaces for various blockchains to exchange information and work together on the predetermined set of information in an atomic and private manner
Unbiased and shielded compute plane - Automata's level of computation privacy may be higher than that of centralised web services like AWS
Elastic and scalable control plane - it is run by a collection of staking nodes and regulates communication between protocol participants
Cross-chain service plane with a privacy-first focus - Automata provides privacy services for different blockchains that give users control over their data

Team

A group of blockchain researchers and developers, including former Ziliqa (ZIL) founders, founded Automata in 2019.

Co-founder Deli Gong previously served as infrastructure lead at Ziliqa, and co-founder Zheng Leong Chua has a PhD in computer science from the National University of Singapore.

Automata Network team consists of more than 10 individuals who are dedicated to the success of the project.

Roadmap

In 2021 launched Canary Network, ContextFree and Mainnet. More efforts to include and engage the community in the technological advancement will be launched in 2022 as a result of the popularity of the Canary Quests, an incentive-based competition on ContextFree.

Achievements of Mainnet and Canary Networks include:

Nearly 30 million requests have been sent on Mainnet and ContextFree's respective networks thus far
ContextFree Democracy received more than 200 proposals
78 active ContextFree nodes, including validator and full nodes
ContextFree nominated Proof-of-Stake enabled with 4 community validators
Ropsten and ContextFree are able to transfer data across chains

Moving forward:

Users will be able to convert between native ATA and ERC-20 ATA thanks to the launch of Token Bridge
To expand the network with external validators, the network intends to start an upgrade to Nominated Proof of Stake consensus
The prior Sudo privilege, which the Automata team had been tasked with protecting, will be replaced with decentralised government. Holders of tokens will be able to make suggestions for enhancing the network
