What is Shiba Inu?
The Shiba Inu coin was created in August 2020 by an anonymous person known as “Ryoshi”. This project was inspired by a combination of three reasons which the team stated as: “We started from zero, with zero”, “The brilliant minds behind Shib had never collaborated before” and “We love Shiba Inu Dogs”. This dog-themed cryptocurrency nicknamed the ‘DOGECOIN KILLER’ aspires to be an Ethereum-based alternative to Dogecoin (DOGE), another popular memecoin. The focus of this project is that it remains all community based, with Ryoshi stating, ‘through the power of collective decentralisation we can build something stronger than a centralised team ever could create.’ This in turn is embodied within the team’s acceptance towards the SHIBArmy narrative as a way of referring to its investors.
Shiba Inu is an ERC-20 Token built on the Ethereum network and remains with this blockchain for a variety of reasons. Ryoshi’s focus for this cryptocurrency was for zero regulations to be imposed, intruding on its ability to evolve, and he believes that ETH is the best way to achieve this objective. Shib price charts have hugely increased overtime, despite the initial supply of one quadrillion tokens. The project’s infamous community, the SHIBArmy, have helped to drive the project’s new all-time highs and it’s reach through social-media platforms such as Reddit and Twitter.
Shiba Inu Ecosystem
ShibaSwap is the project’s personal exchange platform. This decentralised exchange offers the ability to both invest and trade all things SHIB related. ShibaSwap highlights the project’s three flagships’ tokens: Shiba Inu (SHIB), Leash Dogecoin Killer (LEASH) and Bone (BONE) with a variety of features being offered such as to DIG or BURY which resemble the function of Proving your Liquidity or Staking your Tokens respectively.
The Shiba Inu Incubator is another exciting project within Shiba Inu’s ecosystem. Previously described as the Artist Incubator, this function allows for the most talented individuals around the world to be united under one banner to help in creating unique pieces of art that inspire. The Shiba Inu Incubator has been created with the goal to encourage both growth and creativity for all members of the SHIBArmy, highlighting the unity that the art provided creates within their decentralised movement.
Vitalik Buterin has been heavily involved with SHIB since it’s birth. Upon initial circulation, the Shiba Inu Website notes that 50% of the total token supply was locked onto Uniswap, with the remaining 50% being ‘burned to Vitalik Buterin’. In response to this gift, on May 12th 2021, Vitalik Buterin sent 50 trillion SHIB Tokens, worth $1 billion in Shiba Inu price at the time, to India’s Covid Crypto Relief Fund. Buterin later confirmed that he burned approximately 40% of the total supply to a dead wallet, a deliberate act in attempt to raise the price to introduce hope for those in India when they needed it most.
Amazon Smile is an initiative for the rescuing of Shiba Inu dogs. Due to the unique, ‘stubborn’ nature of this breed of dog, often owners find themselves incapable of looking after them. Considering this, The Shiba Inu Team has collaborated with Amazon Smile to collect and donate a percentage of your Amazon purchases to the Shiba Inu Rescue Association.
